PADDLE DETAILS

Event: The Paddle Against Poverty is a 10km paddle from Collaroy to Manly on Saturday 12th January 2008. This is NOT a race but rather an endurance paddle with the aim to finish as a group and raise money for the Manly-Manado Community Partnership. There will be 2 group rest stops along the course. Those people with enough energy remaining may line up for a last-leg sprint from Freshwater
to Manly!

Entry Fee: A minimum $100 entry fee is required to be enter the Paddle Against Poverty to be raised through sponsorship. You must register online to start your online sponsorship page. Click on "register to paddle here" below or on the main page to enter the Paddle Against Poverty. Once registered you will be sent a confirmation email with a link to your own personal sponsorship page. Send the link to you family and friends to get their sponsorship.

Start: Collaroy Beach. 7:00 am in the water so get there at 6:30 am to prepare.

Finish: North Steyne (Manly Beach) approx 9-10am depending on ocean conditions.

Paddle boards: You will need to supply your own board to paddle on. We recommend racing paddle boards but rescue paddle boards will also work. Contact your local SLSC to borrow a board or ask a friend who has one. Malibu surfboards can also be used. No skis, kayaks or stand-up mals with paddles to be used.

Food/Drink: Bring water and snacks for the paddle - either in a backpack/bumbag or taped to your board.

BBQ: There will be a free BBQ at the finish for all entrants! You will have earned it.

Water Safety: Water safety will be provided by Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches and overseen by North Steyne Surf Life Saving Club. If at any point you feel unable to continue then alert the nearest rescue craft for help.

Ocean Conditions: The course direction may be reversed due to prevailing conditions on the day. Check the Paddle Against Poverty website on the morning of the event. In the event of dangerous conditions, the Paddle will be postponed or cancelled.

Manly-Manado merchandise: You can further support the Manly-Manado Community Partnership by purchasing "fair trade" products from the stall at the end of the event.
